Leaf and Tree
Fall is in full swing here and should be prime in the rest of Colorado next week or two. Fall foliage photography is a bit more of a challenge here in Summit and Park Counties. Photographers here are challenged to come away with more than just trees in a field. Don't get me wrong, there are some beautiful shots to be had but here we lack the jaw dropping vistas and massive aspen stands of areas like Crested Butte, Aspen, and the entire Southwest Colorado area. I hope to make it to these spots and really up the landscape game but we shall see. If not it will be fall in the desert for me!
Tips:
Utilize backlighting. this will give aspen stands an intense glow
Use a polarizing filter wisely. This will saturate your colors but don't go overboard. Also when shooting backlit leaves take the filter off.
Tripods are essential. Low ISO's, small F stops and polarizing filters combine for slow shutter speeds so mount up!
All photos shot with a variety Sigma lenses on Canon 5DMKIII camera.
